How do you apply to register to volunteer at Web Summit?

Who is eligible to volunteer at Web Summit?
Our volunteers must have a conversational level of English. We ask that our volunteers are polite, courteous, punctual and committed to contributing to the success of Web Summit. We welcome applications from people from across the world and are looking forward to working with a diverse, ambitious group of volunteers.

All applications will be screened by our Volunteer Team to ensure the Web Summit volunteers fulfil our criteria.

Will Web Summit cover my costs?
No. Web Summit does not cover volunteers’ travel or accommodation costs. We do not pay volunteers at our events. Volunteers will receive a lunch pack on the days of their shift.

How many shifts do I have to complete?
Volunteers will complete one shift per day, each day of the event. Shift lengths vary depending on volunteer role, but are typically between five and six hours long. While Web Summit takes place on November 7, 8, 9 and 10. There are also volunteer shifts available on November 5 and 6 for Response Team, Registration Team and Volunteer Support Team. The other volunteer shifts start on November 7.

Morning shifts begin at 7am, while afternoon shifts begin at 12pm. Please note that these times may vary.

What teams can I volunteer with at Web Summit?
Volunteers will help our Web Summit team across all areas of the event including our Operations, Registration, Stages and more. Volunteers will be assigned to one role for all of their shifts.

Do I need to purchase a ticket?
No. You will be free to enjoy everything else that Web Summit offers based on completion of your assigned shifts. However, if you fail to complete, arrive late or leave early for any of your volunteer shifts, you will no longer be entitled to attend the rest of Web Summit.

Are there any age limitations to volunteer?
Yes. You must be at least 18 years old to volunteer.

Will I receive training before my first shift?
We will provide volunteers with a briefing to run through the Web Summit Volunteer Programme, their volunteer roles and answer any questions. Date and location are to be confirmed.

When do applications close?
Volunteer positions are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Once applications are open here, you can register your interest to volunteer at Web Summit. Please note that registering does not guarantee your volunteer position.

If I need a visa to volunteer at Web Summit, will you help with my visa application?
While we will not engage directly with your relevant embassy, we can supply you with a letter confirming you will be volunteering at Web Summit to support your application. For further information about obtaining a visa, please visit the the Foreign Affairs Office website.
