This year, 900-plus investors will converge on Lisbon for Web Summit, “the world’s premier tech conference”. Meet five of the top investors connecting with startups on the Web Summit app.

These five investor organisations are the most active on the app.

European Investment Bank

The European Investment Bank (EIB) is the lending arm of the European Union. It is the biggest multilateral financial institution in the world, and one of the largest providers of climate finance. The EIB has invested in thousands of companies and projects across the EU – and beyond – since 1959.

In 2022, the EIB signed a total of €65.15 billion in financing. Its global arm, EIB Global – which invests outside of the EU, UK and EFTA – signed €10.8 billion in new financing for projects around the world.

Rockstart

Rockstart is an early-stage investor that empowers purpose-driven founders across three domains: energy, agrifood, and emerging technologies. It invests in early-stage startups, and provides access to capital, markets and expertise by connecting founders with co-investors, mentors, partners, corporates and its wider network.

Since its foundation in 2011, Rockstart has invested in more than 320 startups, and its alumni value to date is more than €1.3 billion. Pacific Capital Partners

The Lisbon-based Pacific Capital Partners is a family enterprise based on the long-established operations of its US-affiliate company, Prim Ventures. The firm invests in a wide variety of businesses and asset classes, with a diversified portfolio across industry sectors and international markets.

In the US, its principal activity is real estate development, with additional holdings in retail, natural resources, energy and renewables, agriculture, wineries, publishing, entertainment, technology and other niche investments. It also offers specific expertise in beverage development.

33 Equity

33Equity is an M&A advisory firm for the software-tech and IT-services sector, supporting clients across Europe and North America. With industry experience, corporate finance expertise, and battle-hardened M&A negotiation skills, the firm aims to realise the maximum value for clients.

33 Equity advises private equity-owned businesses on buy- or sell-side transactions, in addition to acting for publicly listed companies on various transactions including divestitures of subsidiaries and acquisition of target companies. The team works with companies of all sizes in the technology sector.

Meerkat Holding

Meerkat Holding invests in ‘convincing’ business ideas – ones that intend to have a positive social impact. It offers active entrepreneurial support in the areas of financing, M&A, mentoring and coaching, and provides access to the Meerkat Holding network. The team focuses on software solutions in healthcare and industr.

Based in the Ruhr region of Germany, Meerkat Holding has the meerkat as its mascot because it represents social community and the concept of taking responsibility for collective wellbeing.
