Twenty years ago, Silicon Valley was at the epicenter of the global tech startup scene. Indeed, it was a hunting ground for VCs who tended not to look outside the area.

According to Headline co-founder and managing partner Mathias Schilling, the golden rule at the time was that you wouldn’t invest in a company further away than one hour from your office.

Of course, things have changed. Headline has a network of four regionally focused early-stage funds across the US, Europe, Brazil and Asia, and a global venture growth fund that invests internationally.
