Attendees with branding at Web Summit Spotlight Paraiba

On March 20, Web Summit hosted its inaugural Spotlight event in Latin America, bringing together the technology community of Northeast Brazil in João Pessoa.

Web Summit Spotlight is a new initiative designed to bring a special focus to emerging technology hubs around the world. Paraíba, Brazil, was chosen as the first Latin American destination.

The event brought together more than 700 founders, tech leaders and industry experts for a full day of meaningful connections, breakout startup discovery and debate on where technology is heading next.

Industry leaders including Kwai, Replit, Moises, Jeeves and Supercell took to the stage to share insights.

Meanwhile the region’s top startups competed for a spot at Web Summit Rio. Three winners will now head to Rio de Janeiro this June to compete in PITCH, Web Summit’s startup competition.

Meet the winning startups:

  • Sous Clinic: This startup transforms static electronic medical records into a clinical agent ecosystem. While traditional CRM focuses on administrative tasks, their AI uses context engineering to capture professional reasoning and actively monitor patients via WhatsApp.
  • Wokibi: A data-oriented communication automation platform designed to transform large volumes of operational information into high-value relationships. They bridge the gap between complex databases and individual contact – whether for a client, patient or user.
  • Lubit: Lubit is on a mission to reduce equipment failures on the factory floor by 30 percent. Bringing US technology to guarantee the reliability of industrial assets, they focus on IoT sensor integration and the optimisation of preventive operations.
