From providing sustainable farming solutions to creating a platform to swap, share and sell pre-loved clothing, these five women-founded startups are building a more sustainable future.

The United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) contain 17 goals that serve as a blueprint for a more eco-conscious, peaceful and prosperous future.

Here at Web Summit, we want to champion startups that prioritise bettering the environment – and community – now and into the future.

These women-founded sustainability startups selected as part of our Impact startups programme have been chosen based on a commitment to tackle climate change and reduce global waste.

Bee2Be

Bee2Be is a global women-founded company that aims to create a circular economy through sustainable farming. Headquartered in Brazil, the wholesale business offers pollination services and bee products.

ESG Bay

ESG Bay is a self-assessment platform that enables companies to measure environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) impacts, produce comprehensive reports and share findings with customers, communities, suppliers and the public.

ESG Bay’s mission is to build a more sustainable future by providing businesses and customers with accessible and transparent information about environmental and social impacts.

Carbonifer

Founded in France, Carbonifer is a software development company that provides tools to measure the carbon emissions of a business’s cloud infrastructure.

Connected to Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform or Azure accounts, Carbonifer auto-adjusts infrastructure in response to live data about the carbon intensity of a company, aiming to reduce a business’s carbon footprint.

Ecoolska

Founded in 2021, Ecoolska is a sustainable ‘phygital’ (physical and digital) fashion brand headquartered in Portugal. The company’s 3D clothing model feature allows users to visualise clothing before purchase with the aim of reducing overconsumption, overproduction and carbon emissions.

Using only organic, biodegradable, recycled and innovative materials, Ecoolska provides customers with durable and quality clothing made to last for years after production.

Bandi App

Bandi App is a social platform that allows users to swap, sell and share clothes. Founded to fight against the fast fashion industry, Bandi App is an online marketplace for those who love fashion and sustainability.

Considering more than 11 million items end up in landfills every week in the UK, the Bandi App team are trying to slow fashion down by eliminating overconsumption and rehoming pre-loved clothing.
