Amy Peck speaks on stage at Collision 2022

VR and metaverse marketing experts Amy Peck and Dan Burgar weigh in on the potential and pitfalls of advertising in these emerging digital spaces.

Are you sick of people hyping the metaverse, talking about buying virtual real estate next to Snoop Dogg’s property with the latest minted crypto? Amy Peck, founder and CEO of Endeavor VR and Dan Burgar, co-founder and CEO of Frontier Collective, get real about the future of virtual worlds.

Leaving behind the hype, they look at genuine use cases like augmented reality environments in smart cities of the future. And they address significant issues around metaverse properties and NFTs, namely the current land grab and money grab that is happening.

One of the things companies get wrong about advertising or marketing in the metaverse is wanting to have a presence there just for the sake of it, said Dan Burgar, co-founder and CEO of Frontier Collective. And, when a virtual replica of a company’s bricks and mortar is just sitting there, doing nothing, this doesn’t add value or engage users.

“We’re seeing a lot of brand experiences, especially in this early phase of the metaverse, and it’s just shit,” said Dan. “They’re trying to replicate the physical world.”

Perhaps this is one of the reasons there are questions about whether the metaverse is all hype.

But, as EndeavorXR founder and CEO Amy Peck put it when alluding to augmented reality as the basis for interactive advertising experiences as the basis for interactive advertising experiences rather than VR alone, “why wouldn’t we build an aspirational version of everything? Simulate outcomes? Put some AI behind it? Blend these technologies in a way that will have a meaningful outcome for all of us?”.

Frontier Collective co-founder and CEO Dan Burgar and EndeavorXR founder and CEO Amy Peck were in conversation with Cointelegraph business editor Sam Bourgi on the Crypto stage at Collision 2022.
