What's happening?

You may be asking yourself, ‘Where are all the self-driving cars?’. We’ll explore four content tracks that give you insight into how we’ll be getting around in the coming decade. Machine shines a spotlight on the trends and technologies behind the next generation of vehicles and robotics. Your Web Summit ticket gives you access to all Machine sessions, as well as to roundtables, masterclasses and all 25+ tracks at Web Summit.

State of the autonomous future

Self-driving vehicles have been around for more than a decade, but what will it take to move beyond the endless test driving? What’s the truth behind the hype of autonomous cars, where is the real progress being made, and will we ever get to level four (true autonomy)? And, beyond the technology, what are the economic, social and legal factors that will dictate how driverless cars take to our roads?

Sustainability at the forefront

The auto industry is undergoing a rapid evolution towards a cleaner environmental future. But questions remain around rapid movements towards smart cities and their infrastructure. How will battery technology improve? How will the charging infrastructure improve to keep up with demand? Beyond electrification, what other technologies can have an impact? Can hydrogen fuel cell technology finally break through?

AI and the human connection

Robots are getting more ‘intelligent’ every day. Some are even beginning to program themselves. RPA and cobots are helping to rapidly bridge this automation gap. What are the limits to how human they can become? What does it mean for innovation and new products? And how fast will AI help this space evolve?

The evolution of hardware

Robots are being deployed in many industries at a rapid rate. From industrial spaces to consumer applications, robots that do work for a living are finally heading mainstream. But questions remain about how significant this new era will be and how we, as humans, will adapt to the new workforce evolution.
