Revolut’s growth from a small startup to a full-scale European bank is one of the fintech industry’s biggest success stories. Web Summit served as the ideal launching pad for this remarkable journey.

“In those early days, our primary goal was to gain exposure, generate word-of-mouth buzz, and achieve the virality that was essential for our initial growth. Web Summit was undoubtedly the essential place for any startup.” – Paloma Casillas Baldres, Revolut’s Head of Communications for South Europe.

Revolut’s first booth at Web Summit: from a 2015 high-potential startup to a European bank.

In 2015, this scale of exposure was critical for Revolut’s initial phase of growth.

“Attending a forum like this was the best decision we had made, as it provides incredible exposure. It brings together potential clients, future partners, and investors, making it an exceptional opportunity to have all these key people in one room”, ensures Paloma.

Nick Storonsky, Revolut CEO, speaks at Web Summit events since 2016.

But for a company that has already achieved global recognition, does the event still hold the same value? Paloma Casillas explains why Web Summit remains a non-negotiable part of Revolut’s strategy.

“Being at Web Summit was a logical and important step when we were a startup, and that remains true today. It is undoubtedly a significant milestone in Revolut’s history.”

Revolut continued their strong partnership at the 2025

Revolut continued their strong partnership at the 2025 event with a major product launch. They unveiled Revolut People, their new HR management platform, used to manage the HR operations for their global team of over 10,000 employees.

“We are thrilled this year to have a significantly larger booth and to be showcasing new value propositions, such as our People product. This event is the ideal platform to introduce it.”

During Web Summit Lisbon 2025, Revolut ran out of merchandise due to the sheer volume of visitors on their stand.

“The outcome has been overwhelmingly positive: my team ran out of merchandise due to the sheer volume of visitors interested in the product and signing up for our job openings. We are extremely pleased with the results, we are hitting all our goals.”

Going global with Web Summit

Revolut highly values the chance to collaborate with Web Summit on a global scale. From a marketing standpoint, their presence in target markets is key to gaining more in-depth market understanding.

“Every location is different, the experience in Lisbon is distinctly different from Rio or Qatar. We appreciate attending these diverse locations because they offer unique atmospheres, and present different opportunities for us.”

Revolut continues to expand its growth across various geographies and looks forward to increasing its engagement in more Web Summit events.

“Web Summit is really for everyone because it’s not just a tech summit anymore, right? If you’re asking yourself if Web Summit is worth it, it’s because you’re already interested. Don’t lose another year. Go for it.”
